Some ask for an ARC and a Korean bank account or card in your own name; some look at how much of your stay is left. Treat it as something to confirm during consultation rather than assume in advance. They answer different questions. Public bikes are cheap for occasional trips and you never have to store one — a real advantage in a Korean one-room, where your own bike ends up in the entryway, on a shared rack, or carried up the stairs of a walk-up villa with no lift (which is why folding frames are popular). A monthly rental suits the person who makes the same trip every day: no hunting for a dock, your saddle height and phone mount stay exactly as you set them, and you can choose an e-bike, which public fleets almost never offer.

It depends on the type. Pedal-assist (PAS) models, where the motor cuts out at around 25 km/h and the weight stays under the legal limit, are treated as bicycles and may use bike lanes and riverside paths; throttle-driven models fall into a motorised category that requires a licence. A helmet is legally required either way. Check which type a listing is before you apply, and confirm it during consultation.

Moving within Korea is normally just an address change you report to the rental company. Ending early is the part to plan for: the contract length and any early-termination charge are set by each rental company, and SETKORA is not the contracting party. If your departure date is already fixed, raise it during consultation before you sign rather than after.
